The newly operational solar panels, completed in July 2024 at a cost of €159,070.39, marks a major step in reducing reliance on the electricity grid By harnessing renewable energy, the facility reduces its Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Stephen Shaw, Group Engineering Director AES Engineering commented on the investment.

This investment is an important step in reducing our environmental impact while demonstrating our dedication to the 29by29 initiative. Investing in renewable energy is not just a choice, it's a necessity for the future of our planet and our business.

In October 2024, AESSEAL Deutschland GmbH further advanced its sustainability efforts by replacing its aging oil-fired heating system with a state-of-the-art heat pump system, an investment of €458,533. The old system, which relied on a 35-year-old underground oil tank, was nearing obsolescence, with no spare parts available for maintenance. The heat pump system eliminates the annual consumption of 15,150 litres of oil, resulting in a reduction of 38.48 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

The combined impact of the solar panels and the heat pump system now positions the Kronau facility as a low-carbon site. As oil becomes less viable and more costly, this transition ensures a sustainable future for the Kronau facility, while supporting AESSEAL’s broader carbon reduction goals.
